What to expect

This is an EMBA studio class created and delivered by Cleopatra Joseph who has a Private teacher permit. Age Three to four and a half | 1 class per week |12 classes per term The class duration is 1.5 hours for a maximum of 6 participants. Set in calm and appropriate indoor and outdoor home villa facilities this class is leaning towards a more structured and formal class setting appropriate for the 3-4.5 year old age bracket. This pre-school class approaches basic early childhood education through the lens of expressive arts like singing, movement, role play and fairytales. Classes are embellished with beautiful instruments, sensory props, art and craft materials and exploring the natural world. This class is perfect for children who may not be at nursery or school yet or those who are being homeschooled. Children who are becoming confident participating in peer groups with or without their usual carer present and who are proficient at using the lavatory by themselves or with minimal assistance. This class is suitable for either “drop off” or a carer waiting onsite. What to expect during the class: Opening phase * We encourage children to come in and use the lavatory ensuring they wash their hands well at the start of the class. * Slowly filtering in and creating a seated circle as a group. A welcome song says hello and reminds us what is to be expected of the session. * Sing musical songs and nursery rhymes as a group that align body and mind using simple orienting actions. We eventually move towards songs with solo lines and spotlight opportunities. * Books are read to the class and the disecting of and reinacting of scripts and fairytales that have appropriate plot lines and clear emotions will be one of the ways in which we challenge the children’s communication skills and understanding of the world. * A core learning activity associated with our termly project. * We rotate different props, instruments and sensory toys each week e.g puppetry and drums in order to refocus, realign and entertain. * We rotate the final activity between painting pictures of nature, helping to prepare the lunch, bird watching, craft creations with materials, finding insects or looking after our Hens and or pet. * Lastly we end the session in the same way each week by returning back to our circle with low stimulation and calming exercises and include a Home song. Food is offered. Children picked up between 12 :20 and 12:30 if they are eating.
